“Beloved musicians, I am speaking to both of you. (I found this address at the very last moment, I hope you will receive this message.) I was deeply moved by your concert at the Cour de l’Hôtel de Ville. Since that moment of happiness, I have been thinking of writing to you one day to express my gratitude. It goes beyond music. This bond, this joyful interplay between you, full of trust and freedom, this presence of what is invisible—you showed us what it means to be human, and it feels so good. And Brahms, like Beethoven, must have been delighted. I don’t know where they are, but they were present, happy that what they had to tell us, gained through so much perseverance, was conveyed that afternoon with care and love. Thank you! And continue with the same almost childlike joy!”

The Duo Axus Mundi
The Duo Axus Mundi was founded in 2006, following the encounter between cellist Joëlle Mauris and pianist Viva Sanchez Morand during their studies at the Haute École de Musique de Genève. Since then, the two young artists have dedicated themselves to an in-depth exploration of chamber music, coupled with a refined musicological approach. Sharing an insatiable interest in music and contemporary creation, they formed the Duo Axus Mundi to share their love of the musical art with audiences.
The Duo Axus Mundi has given recitals in Switzerland, France, Austria, and Canada. The two musicians have also been broadcast live on Radio Télévision Suisse Romande. Supported by grants from various foundations, the duo has participated in prestigious festivals across Europe and North America, such as the Festival de Musique de Chambre de Schaffhouse, the Toronto Summer Music Academy & Festival, and the International Summer Academy in Austria.
